The RxScan Ultra RoboCheck™ is a portable system that will rapidly verify the accurate placement of drugs in the medication distribution process. RoboCheck verifies the accurate filling of automated dispensing machines, dispensing cabinets and carousels, pharmacy bin stocking, crash cart filling, STAT and now order filling.
RoboCheck can track the person doing the filling or replenishment, the location that is being filled, and what medications were filled and the date and time filled. Quality Assurance reports can be prepared from this data using the included RxScan Suite Reporting Software.
6 Typical Verification Situations:
1. Stocking of medication in the Pharmacy department.
2. Filling first doses, stats, daily orders, etc.
3. Stocking of medications outside of the pharmacy.
4. Filling and replenishing of med carts/cassettes/trays/crash carts/boxes.
5. Filling of 'automated dispensing machines' (ADM) to assure that the items placed/replaced in the ADM are accurate.
6. QA of the dispensing machine/robots.
These 6 situations are parts of Preparing for Bedside Point of Care (Pre-BPOC). They are steps in the Medication Distribution Process before bedside scanning. This is where bar code scanning technology can have a positive intervention in decreasing errors today.
Implementing Bedside Point of Care (BPOC) is highly site-specific because BPOC solutions are based on the unique site-specific distribution and hospital wide information systems in place at each facility. However, all drug distribution systems have many of the above 6 steps in common and can utilize the RxScan Ultra RoboCheck today to decrease medication errors. |
